How to Become a Licensed Barber in Texas

First, you would need to be at least 16 years old (It used to be 14), have a valid ID (can be from another country), bring your SSN, and your High School Diploma or GED.

The state of Texas requires you to attend an accredited barber school for 1,000 Hours. Whether full time or part time will determine how long it will take you to finish.

After attending school for 1,000 Hours you will need to pass 2 State of Texas mandated exams, which are the written and practical exams (which have a combined value of about $122). Upon successful passing of said exams then you will be able to send a money order of $55 to TDLR so that they may print and mail you your Texas Barber License.
